Be the Change you wish to see in the World ~ Ghandhi

This Blog was created to publish and share ideas, thoughts and insights on change in this world.

Changelightbulbs is a blog devoted to writing about things we could change for the better, that light bulb moment to turn the lights on to make a difference through spreading the word of everyday things that we could change and share other articles too. A person could make a difference where Collective thoughts gather and so before long as the famous quote says, through our thoughts and actions:- we’ve become the Change we wanted to see in the world.

Make Australia great again

Our poor farmers are struggling and we have one of the best agricultural lands and there’s tenders filled to overseas companies – I just can’t believe it – it should always be Australian farmers first – make Australia great again – in Australia put Australia first, buy Australian, support Australian made and ensure support for Australian farmers and tender to Australian companies first.

Animal kindness

Im so angered and then tired of reading about people performing acts of cruelty on animals – “violently bashed kangaroo in the face”, “used pig in bungee jumping stunt”, “threw rocks at”, “ran over”, “hit over the head”, and the list goes on and I wonder what makes people think this kind of behaviour is ok, that it’s funny or provides some sort of sick satisfaction. It’s disgraceful, shameful and perverse.

People need to be better than this.

Animals feel pain, they are vulnerable, innocent and at our mercy always.

We should forever continue and strive to do more: to protect them, to conserve their environment, to educate about ways to assist and support them, to create good law and policies for the future, and prosecute heavily.

People should take responsibility and personal accountability for their actions, the time is now in all areas.

And Witnesses should not be a party to allowing to witness a cruel act to continue, use your voice, take action and call the authorities, and stop it in the first place, don’t be a lifeless bystander. It’s not ok no matter who they are performing, or making these cruel decisions.

There is only room for values, kindness, care and concern from now on.

Party time

If you’re having a party and have the ice loaded up in buckets – please don’t put it down the drain or the toilet – ever – please throw it on your grass, the tree roots, or filter it out to your pot plants. Yes it’s cold. But in the hot, dry and warm seasons the ice cold won’t affect them. Obviously ice melts so you need to turf it out when you’ve finished with it – but the best time is actually night, or early morning, so whenever the party is over.

Australia, you’ve always been a humble Country, a beacon of light on a dark day, an example of innovation and invention, of support and friendship when needed, an easygoing and lawful Country. A Country of leadership and to aspire to actually. And many have.

So never put yourself down.

Always hold yourself high.

Smile and say thank you.

Be welcoming but don’t be walked over.

Be understanding that you learn from experience so don’t make the same mistakes. And if you don’t know what to do, follow those who’ve done it well before you. Show some respect.

Start cleaning up your act.

Clean up your own garbage and don’t send it elsewhere.

A sunburnt country, used to the harsh unrelentingly drought, so wish for rain, but also make a start on your own backyard with what you can, put the moisture back in through making change to the way you use and conserve, so that tomorrow the grass really will be greener and it won’t be on the other side, it will be right there individually in your own backyard.

Conserve your natural resources and don’t squander them.

An Island really could go under if the tides get too high, so learn to swim, and do what you can to take the moral high ground, for the sake of every living thing. Learn good navigational skills, just in case.

Whatever you wish for, lead the way, you are unique, you’re too far away to be any Country’s shadow, you’re used to the long haul, so don’t sell yourself out or try to take a shortcut, because there really is no shorter route from anywhere, so you’ll have to get used to the travel.

Mining Change

Congratulations to the judge that decided to stop a mine from going ahead on the basis that we should be scaling back production that is not in line with reducing green house gas emissions and in support of a reduction in green house gases. How innovative. What a courageous, thought provoking human.

What an amazing courageous stand.

Must have been an enlightening moment being on the precipice of life where in your career and everything you’ve done up until that moment finally being in the position to say I can approve this and we can all go in that direction or I have the power right now to change this for the ultimate good so we are going on this direction unfortunately whether you like it or not, this is my decision.

Not an easy thing to do.

So fantastic to see someone take the courage to do it and have to live by it even knowing what that would bring and the trouble it may cause forever more.

If we could all have it within us.

It’s a good thing that a lot of wildlife in this country is nocturnal, or there might be even less alive than there is now!

At least when most people are asleep some get a chance to make it about alive!

It is aweful that some drivers appear that it’s ok to speed around and if some little creature crosses the road well it’ll just get mowed down with some sick sadistic satisfaction. That creature has a little face and feels pain and is at the mercy of humans to help them if they’re hurt.

We are lucky in this Country that most are asleep in their little homes while we are out in our traffic rows of the commute or things could be a lot worse.

In my new world of animal activists and concerned humans we are always on the look out when we drive, especially at night when the little creatures are out and about.

We build roads that have wildlife traffic bypass corridors, we have people that are aware and slow down when necessary and wait if animals and wildlife are running around or putting themselves at risk and we’re patient, we anticipate the worst; like they’re about to run out in front of us or fly down near our windscreen and then we are relieved when we’ve slowed down and the issue was averted.

When we are that human that likes to feed them :- we do so where the safety of them, our neighbours, ourselves and other motorists are safe as well. Otherwise just stick to putting out some water on a hot day.

We anticipate the potential actions or outcomes of the animals we’re feeding!

We plan our commute where we can, after sunrise and before sunset. The less vulnerable hours. We make that conscious decision

We love our pets and we are responsible; we lock them up at night because we know they love us and are there to please or protect us and they’re territorial and we also need to protect our wildlife so we don’t want them Killing or competing in our backyard. We bring the dogs in, stop the cats from roaming. We let the wildlife have free rain to migrate around during the darkness when they are foraging for food and gathering,  and they’ll be back in their nests before you’all wake up. We are aware, we notice our locals and those that live in our backyard and we support them.

We let them be transient but on really hot days when we know water is scarce we give them a helping hand.

We don’t go out of our way to disrupt them either, it’s all about awareness, understanding and support

Farming & Food Change

With continuous droughts, dusty, dry land and people’s changing perceptions around health and nutrition, the farmer needs to change and evolve farming practices to adapt to changing trends and to remain viable into the future.

People are becoming more health conscious, environmentally aware and interested in eating clean, seasonal nutritious food of vegetables, herbs and fruits and are moving away from processed food; mass scale cropping, any GMO crops and land clearing; the old sheep and cattle farm is becoming a way of the past.

Seasonal vegetables and herbs, companion and rotational planting and putting all the trees back in, with bee hives and native flowers and native water plants in dams and creeks, restocking fish and yabbies these are the way of the future.

People want to see less chemicals, more natural repellents in the form of companion planting to naturally reduce pests, bringing back overall quality food at affordable prices.

Farmers need to build communities that support each other to bring their produce together on mass.

In my changed world, it’s already there.

Recyclable bags

I’m surprised that supermarket bags state they are 80% recyclable. What happened that they couldn’t find the remaining 20% in the production. I find it absurd it couldn’t go the full 100%.

In the new world of positive thought and action we only ever created bags at 100%

everything is completely recyclable or biodegradable, in fact you can’t buy anything that isn’t and nothing would ever have been allowed to be produced if it wasn’t, people wouldn’t accept it, because we’re the consumers and so with our choices and purchasing power we dictate what will or won’t be in this world and there is no other option to choose from actually.

Climate Change

I’m not a fan of the term “climate change”, we all know that like the weather, the seasons, the temperature, the cycles of flood and drought, sun and rain, its change.

So with something that elusive how can you pin point it and get a handle on it, to make a decision to do anything about it.

So again I’m not a fan of that term; its a bit of a cop out really. There’s no point in really trying to do anything about it, its the climate, its beyond us.

I do know this regardless;

I can make a stand for clean air, clean water and clean soil. I can take responsibility for my own actions, clean up after myself, make better choices, and challenge myself to reduce my own garbage, waste, footprint and drain on this planet!

In my flip For a new world I take personal responsibility and I’m not perfect but I try, all the time; and so does the next person and the next person individually until collectively, wow the whole world has done it, and in my new world of positive change this planet had already been saved when we chose to reduce our destruction and consumption and decided long ago that rather than wait to see what might happen we chose to seal our fate by making a conscious choice to reduce the risk, just in case. There was nothing to debate.
